EPDM

EPDM

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a synthetic rubber made up of ethylene, propylene and diene monomers. Its molecular structure has a single bond, chemically saturated backbone, which makes it extremely resistant to outdoor conditions. This is because ozone and UV rays are unable to break up its molecular structure in the same way as rubbers with double bonds.

Features and Benefits

Superior durability and weather resistance

Resists abrasion, UV rays, ozone, aging, and weather, and is the most waterproof rubber available. Cold/hot test (-20°C to 100°C) and chemical resistance to acids and alkalis

Insulates and reduces noise

Commonly used in the automotive industry offering low density, flexibility and low electrical conductivity, adhering easily to metals

Compressive load (stress) is low

Recovers well after compression and is suited to high frequency open and closing situations

Low specific gravity

Easy to apply and store as foam pieces do not fuse together
