Various industries today use different types of foam tapes in conducting their operations. What makes foam tapes beneficial for industries is they can be utilised for sealing and gasketing. They are also suitable for sound dampening, insulating, cushioning, and padding.

Most of these benefits are present with tons of foam tapes today. Normount® V2000, for instance, can also be used in sealing, gasketing, and all other previously stated applications.

A Quick Look at Normount® V2000

Normount® V2000 is a proud creation of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, a known producer of engineered, high-performance polymer products. One thing that makes this foam tape distinct from others is it features a high-performance acrylic adhesive on boat sides. This foam tape is created out of high density, closed-cell polyurethane foam substrate, providing it with features that can help many industries.

One of the features of Normount® V2000 is it has high shear strength. It can also maintain a long-term bond due to its high strength and durable acrylic adhesive. It even has superior aging properties and environmental resistance against ultraviolet light, fungi, oxidation, weathering, and extreme temperatures.

Given its overall composition and accompanying benefits, it can effectively work with polycarbonates, acrylic plastics, and most types of silicones.

Applications of Normount® V2000

The Normount® V2000 can be utilised in many constructions and industrial bonding applications.

For construction bonding applications, this special foam tape can be used for skylights, sound baffles, trim and ornamentation, HVAC gasketing, kick panels, signs, and glass lamination.

As for industrial bonding, the Normount® V2000 can be used for vibration dampeners, weatherstripping, appliance handles, mirror mounting, circuit board mounts, letters and signs, glass lamination, emblems, and nameplates.

Take note that this foam tape will not work on fabric, coarse concrete, loose paint, rough wallpaper, and any other similar surfaces or materials.

Normount® V2000 Installation Guide

If you will be utilising Normount® V2000 as your primary tape for specific applications, you must ensure that the contact surface will be prepared properly. To prepare it, you must remove any dust, wax, soap, and oily films through the application of a cleaning solution. You can use a cleaning solvent with a 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water for optimum surface preparation.

In some instances, you may want to seal or prime the contact surface further. An added adhesion may also be applied if you want. Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics recommends the use of a Tite-R-Bond adhesion promoter, making the contact surface more suitable for the Normount® V2000.

Once the contact surface has been prepared, you can apply the tape to the surface with the liner on and rub it down firmly. The liner must then be removed before applying firm pressure to the tape, ensuring that the surfaces will be bonded together.

For optimum results, you must allow 24 hours of dwell time at room temperature before using or loading your newly taped or sealed surfaces.
