How Do Thermal Bond Tapes Work?

The industry standard for more than 30 years, Thermalbond® is the world’s most recognized brand of structural glazing spacer. Thermalbond glazing spacer tapes are designed for use in structural silicone glazing systems where there is direct contact with the silicone adhesive. Thermalbond structural glazing spacerstemporarily fasten the glass to the frame, allowing movement of units through the shop. The vapor permeable cell structure provides for rapid curing of the silicone adhesive.

ThermalBond® Spacer Tapes

Thermalbond® V2100 and V2200 spacer tapes are available in a wide range of thicknesses and configurations with black or gray color, utilizing high-strength acrylic adhesive on one or both sides of the foam. The two-sided adhesive configuration delivers secure temporary bonding, insuring stability of the glazing components during the silicone curing cycle. V2100 and V2200 spacer tapes are available in a light grey color for silicone matching in new façade designs. Thermalbond Xpress has adhesive on only one side and is self-wound, its matte black surface providing a smooth surface for glass positioning and visual aesthetics.

Representing an industry first, Thermalbond has a third-party verified life cycle assessment (LCA). Helping to reduce heat transfer in curtain wall and window systems, Thermalbond is an integral component of structural glazing. The LCA, facilitated by Sustainable Solution Corporation(link is external) measures the products’ environmental impact and gives transparency to our customers, which is increasingly important as LEED(link is external) requirements evolve to improve building sustainability.
